Donald Trump Will Arrest Me for Saying This
At least I'll finally get to meet Jimmy Kimmel
Today, Rep. Robert Garcia announced he’s investigating ABC’s suspension of Jimmy Kimmel’s late night show after pressure from Donald Trump — another move from the Trump admin that led to outrage and concerns over First Amendment rights.
Kimmel’s show was pulled by Disney’s ABC last night after pressure from the Trump admin and FCC Chair Brendan Carr due to Kimmel’s comments about Charlie Kirk’s killer. The comments in question? Saying that MAGA is trying to win political points off Kirk’s death and saying Trump is mourning Kirk like “a 4-year-old mourns the death of a goldfish.”
Interestingly, Tucker Carlson actually said the same thing, agreeing that the Trump admin is using Kirk’s death to crack down on free speech and progressive organizations — and faced no repercussions for it!
People who have also faced no repercussions: Brian Kilmeade, a FOX host that said we should ‘just kill homeless people,’ Jesse Watters, another FOX host, that incited war on live TV, JD Vance for saying “I don’t give a shit what you call it” in response to literal war crimes, or Donald Trump for a single one of the dozens of crimes he’s committed.
Interesting reactions from the party that seemingly cares so much about free speech and their right to spew hatred and fear without a second thought.
Donald Trump also said today that he thinks the licenses for any network that shares mainly negative news about him or that doesn’t include conservative viewpoints should be pulled. The thing is, there’s pretty much only negative news — Trump’s approval ratings hit record lows this week.
The fact that Stephen Colbert and now, Jimmy Kimmel, have been affected — white men who are fixtures in the American media ecosystem — should concern everyone. If this is what the Trump admin and the FCC is willing to do publicly to them, I can’t even imagine what they’re doing to marginalized voices that aren’t in the limelight.
Rep. Garcia’s efforts to investigate the circumstances of Kimmel’s shutdown, and Rep. Eric Swalwell’s promise to take legal action against members of the Trump admin that are limiting First Amendment rights are signs of life in the Democratic party, but we need more. More Dems need to join Garcia and Swalwell in condemning Trump and Carr’s egregious overreach and fighting back against the clear censorship of progressive voices in our country.
The mainstream media is continuing to capitulate to Trump, and independent media has never been more important. To support me and my work, please consider becoming a free or paid subscriber. Either way, thank you for being here.

I think there should be a class action lawsuit brought against ABC FOR 330 BILLION. - that's only $1,000 for every American citizen. Not much for trampling our rights. But it would get them into court
Excellent article and I agree 100 percent. This scares me because he has gone after both Colbert which was more subtle and now Jimmy Kimmel and his “ I heard they were getting rid of Jimmy Kimmel” is him gleefully letting you know he did it, and is the reason the show was paused. He’s like a child when he does that I heard or I hear. He knows damn well what he did and what’s going on. I wish his family had made sure he got a psychiatrist and more socialization. And hired a damn nanny to give him the love he craves.
