Capitol police officer that defended democracy on January 6 vs. election denier... I know whose side I'm on
Today’s hearing on the January 6 insurrection got heated as Rep. Troy Nehls, a Texas Republican, claimed the riots were not Donald Trump’s fault, and were instead the fault of the Capitol Police — leading to a heated altercation.
During the hearing, Nehls said, “I can tell you, gentlemen, that the fault does not lie with Donald Trump. It lies with (former U.S. Capitol Police Chief) Yogananda Pittman and the U.S. Capitol leadership team.”
In response, Michel Fanone, a Capitol police officer that was injured by rioters and ended up having a heart attack as a result of their violence, told him to “go fuck himself” in the middle of coughs.
Ivan Raiklin, a far-right election denier and all-around terrible person, was present for the hearing to do his best to cause problems — and he almost got one. Fanone called Raiklin out, saying, “This guy has threatened my family, threatened my children, threatened to rape my children, you sick bastard,” while pointing at Raiklin. As a reminder, the insurrection Raiklin and Nehls keep defending injured more than 170 officers, and four others later took their own lives. Raiklin also said he had a “retribution list” after January 6 that included Nancy Pelosi — not the actions of a peaceful person, like Trump claimed.
Rep. Jamie Raskin stepped in, asking the chairman to “…please control the deranged observer Mr. Raiklin.”
Donald Trump’s role in this violence is clear — he incited it in the first place, refused to send in the National Guard to protect lawmakers, and then pardoned the criminals that took part in the whole thing. Years later, it can be easy to forget what a stain this was on the fabric of American history given just how much more shit Trump has managed to do, but this was the first non-peaceful transition of power in American history. There was a noose for Mike Pence.

“Not Trumps fault.” “High propensity for violence.” Yet Trump pardoned the only ones responsible for that violence. Nobody else incited the violence and nobody else pardoned the violence. Yet we GIVE TIME TO “Gentlemen” idiots. Democracy has fallen, America. Don’t ask for justice from those who steal it from you at every turn. The thing that bothers me the most is how trump army of fools are out here, committing crimes, violating our civil rights, violating the human rights of non citizens, murdering Americans, murdering detainees while in custody, kidnapping elementary school children and putting them in dangerous situations. They actually believe that there will be no accountability for all this. I have no compassion or sympathy to spare on any of these evil, corrupt, bigots.
