Office of the First Lady ( not that we have one at the moment;) the Social Secretary responsible for all social and State event planning; and White House Visitor Services. This was the (for lack of a better term) public face of the People’s House: Easter Egg Rolls, Christmas and Hanukkah celebrations, events for military families, state dinners, and “the Dish Room” as named in the movie “the American President.” But none of these functions are as important as being able to now tow to Trumps billionaire buddies. Somewhere I heard that since Karoline whatsername said it would be available for public use, some kid asked if he could have his birthday party there.

I had to remind them that the companies don't absorb those tariffs but those who buy the stuff, aka the American workers, and that a tariff is considered a tax on the American workers. And, yes, I also told her she was dimmer than a box of burnt bulbs.
You also have to remember that the tariffs are being paid by American companies. So any money that goes to the government from tariffs is coming directly from Americans, it doesn't even have to wait to filter down to the consumer. Trump is saying that he's collected $16 trillion from tariffs, which is idiotic and obviously untrue, then that money, whatever the real amount is, has come from Americans. We are not punishing other countries by doing this. We're punishing ourselves. Tariffs only work when they are targeted and are used as an encouragement to make American companies buy American instead of from other countries, but when there is no choice except to buy from another country, all the tariff does is punish the American company and, ultimately, the American consumer.
It's time for the people who ignore politics because it's "confusing" or whatever excuse they use to get off their butts and contact their Congresspeople, especially the Republicans and demand they stop thus madman agenda through impeachment or obstruction or lose votes and thus power.
