Republican BURSTS INTO TEARS Then Does THIS
Nancy Mace promises to fight for assault victims – then defends Trump
Rep. Nancy Mace left an Oversight hearing with Epstein victims in tears on Tuesday night, tweeting, “I feel the immense pain of how hard all victims are fighting for themselves because we know absolutely no one will fight for us” — only to stand firmly with a convicted abuser two days later.
Mace, herself a survivor of sexual assault, was present for a House Oversight Committee briefing with survivors of Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse on Tuesday night, but left early because she had a difficult time hearing their stories while still healing from her own experiences.
I had hoped that this reaction to the brave women that stepped forward to detail their abuse at the hands of Epstein and his accomplices would result in Mace’s disavowal of Trump, given that he’s totally in the files. Unfortunately, she seems to have passionately doubled down — even after Trump called the Epstein files a hoax.
Mace defended Trump, despite the press conference with Epstein survivors yesterday where they demanded he release the files, writing, “President Trump is the one who banned Jeffrey Epstein from Mar-a-Lago. President Trump is the one who cooperated with the feds to get this guy. President Trump is the one who is COMMITTED to protecting women and kids.”
Quick fact check — Trump is a convicted abuser, as he was found guilty of sexually assaulting E. Jean Carroll two years ago, and Epstein was still a member of Mar-a-Lago for more than a year after his indictment.
To be so moved by these women’s stories that she had to leave the room, just to defend the man refusing them their justice 48 hours later is genuinely appalling, and the cognitive dissonance truly astounds me. I hope one day she will decide to actually fight for victims of assault, instead of just tweeting it.
