MTG SLAMS Trump on Doubling Healthcare Costs
“You don’t HATE your government enough.” - Member of Your Government.
Yesterday, Marjorie Taylor Greene exposed just how useless Republican leadership has been in this shutdown fight, saying, “Not a single Republican in leadership talked to us about this or has given us a plan to help Americans deal with their health insurance premiums DOUBLING!!!”
Allies in unlikely places are still allies, I suppose.
MTG’s unexpected criticism of Republican leaders comes after Dems and Trump contradicted each other on whether or not they’re having conversations on healthcare to try to reopen the government — seems like the consensus is that they aren’t.
Mike Johnson isn’t even pretending to try to help fix this — in fact, he sent House members home completely to prevent Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva from being sworn in. It’s already been two weeks since she won her special election, but her addition to the House means there are finally enough signatures on the discharge petition to release the Epstein files for it to pass. Johnson is literally prioritizing pedophiles over the American people.
In addition to sharing how little Republicans care about anyone but themselves, MTG also referenced how Trump has been funding Israel and Ukraine (though she didn’t mention our $20 billion bailout of Argentina) while doing nothing to help Americans — and now, Republicans are continuing to keep the government shut down in order to ensure that healthcare premiums double.
Trump is also reportedly trying to move forward with mass firings of federal workers to force Dems’ hand to reopen the government — though two major unions have already sued Russell Vought to stop him from firing people during a shutdown. Also, firing federal workers now wouldn’t change much; Trump has been firing people arbitrarily since he took office. Now, he’s just trying to make sure they’re uninsured too.
As MTG said, “All our country does is fund foreign countries and foreign wars, and never does anything to help the American people!!!”

I never thought I would agree with MTG but this shutdown is just an extension of the last one where we agreed to continue the Government funding while we renegotiated those healthcare issues. Obviously that never got done and here we are with no time left until the next medical season leaving the ACA to expire and premiums to skyrocket.
Remember when she angrily accused Biden of lying when he (accurately!) pointed out that (what's left of) the Republican Party intended to attack healthcare for U.S. citizens?
