The only redeeming thing I saw, and it's in the trailer, no less, cuz I'm not watching the thing, is when she calls to congratulate him on winning the presidency. She wasn't even there for it. He then asks, "Did you watch it?" and she said, "No, I didn't. Yeah..." I think she then said she'd watch it on the news later. So freakin' funny! And it was in the trailer!
The whole Melania documentary movie is just hilarious and the White House of Cards trying to solicit Nationalist Christians to purchase tickets in bulk, is even funnier. Hahaha.
Several sources say there was a post on social media, not sure which, that was taken down rather quickly, that offered a free ticket and $50 on top of that to not only go, but they had to stay for the entire thing to get their money. Yes, they were usually credible sources. No, I am unable to fact check it offhand.
The optics here are brutal. Getting caught doing taxpayer-funded astroturfing for a commercial product that already flopped organically—that's a special kind of incompetence. The National Faith Advisory Board angle makes it even worse, weaponizing religious networks for box office padding. This isn't even sophisticated corruption, it's just lazy and transparent.
It will be interesting to see if people wasting money on the tickets actually use them. All of the news I've seen has been of pretty empty theaters, and I can't imagine that's improved with all of the negative reviews.
